Message: We often think of “judgement” as a negative word. Whether it be images of Judgement Day passed on to us by the Christian religion, or “Only God Can Judge Me” by Tupac Shakur— the whole concept of “judgement” seems like a rather scary thing, doesn’t it? We might also think about judging others… or being judged.
But what is judgement, actually?
(One thing it is is one of those words that, if you stare at it long enough, it totally looks like its spelled wrong. Heh.)
Merriam-Webster says judgement is a noun and it means an opinion or decision that is based on careful thought. Dictionary.com says judgement is the ability to make a decision, form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, especially in matters affecting action; good sense; discretion. Another definition from the same source says judgment is “the forming of an opinion, estimate, notion or conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind”.

Romance: The Judgment card when applied to romantic issues often suggests a “test” of some sort. If you’re experiencing relationship difficulties, it suggests that through gaining clarity and awareness of what’s really going on, you can use that same clarity and awareness in your communication with your partner to come to a place of peace and harmony. It can also point to true Karmic connections*, which basically means you may be experiencing repeating patterns of harmful or unhelpful behaviors. This means that you are working something out inside yourself.
“Every time our unconscious is working something out, it calls into our lives the people who have within the pieces of the answer we are seeking.”
– Martin Schulman
Advice: It is time to ask yourself some questions, and be honest in your answers. What limiting beliefs or attitudes are you harboring that might be clouding your ability to make objective (yet informed) decisions? What do you possibly need to become more informed ABOUT before you form an opinion or come to a conclusion? Have you got all of the objective facts? Once all is in place, you can start to synthesize the objective with the subjective— your inner world— and if you align yourself with the energy of this card, you are sure to make a good decision.
“Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see. Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere. But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever.” Nancy Lopez
